The Inaugural Hong Kong ICT Awards 2014 for Best Student Invention Award Registration is Now Open

HONG KONG, Dec. 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Registration is now open for the Hong Kong ICT Awards 2014 for Best Student Invention Award. The award was founded in 2013 and organized by the Hong Kong New Emerging Technology Education Association (HKNETEA), and is HKSAR's only student-based Internet, Computer and Technology (ICT) award steered by the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau of the HKSAR and supported by the Education Bureau, Hong Kong Productivity Council and Hong Kong Trade Development Council. Students from all primary, secondary, tertiary and university educational institutions are encouraged to apply.

The application deadline is January 24, 2014.

The "Best Student Invention" award was created to recognize the talents of young Internet, Computer and Technology (ICT) students who are providing innovation and research to the field, serving as well to encourage and inspire students to participate in ICT-related inventions and projects. The award features three categories: primary school, secondary school, tertiary and university, to be assessed by a leading Chairperson in agreement with no less than five other adjudicators in total. Winners in each category will be awarded a Gold, Silver or Bronze trophy or certificate. All winners will receive a final assessment, with one being chosen to compete with the grand winners from the other nine different categories for the "2014 Hong Kong ICT Awards" Award of the Year.

Jury members will include University of Hong Kong's Department of Computer Science Professor Francis Chin Yuk Lun, well-known Hong Kong Junior inventor Mr. Chan Yik Hei, a number of ICT industry CEOs, as well as many other leading international ICT award accreditation and academic experts.

The winners of the competition will receive a host of benefits, including support for subsequent entries into other international awards and competitions. Winners will also receive invitations to various promotional events to publicize their achievements, while garnering the right to display the official logo of the Hong Kong ICT Awards on their promotional materials. Furthermore, winners will be considered for "fast track" admission to the Hong Kong Science & Technology Parks' Incu-Tech and Incu-Bio Incubation Programme. Each participant will receive recognition for his or her efforts through a Certificate of Participation to the HKICT Awards.

The awards competition is sponsored by Cyberport and Hutchison Global Communications. All judging will take place at Cyberport.

The award ceremony will be held on April 7, 2014, from 11:30am - 12:30pm at HKCEC.
