Wine appreciation event in Singapore by Hermitage Wines allows personal interactions with 92 prestigious wine producers
SINGAPORE, April 23 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- The Ultimate Parker in Asia Event, a three-day wine appreciation event organised by Hermitage Wines, will feature wine tasting sessions by world-class wine producers and Robert Parker Junior, one of the world's most influential wine critics.
Comprising a charity gala dinner helmed by Parker and a grand two-day tasting session, The Ultimate Parker in Asia Event will bring the best in the wine world to Singapore.
Charity Gala Dinner -- Les Fruits De La Vigne
Parker and his 100 Point wines will be the focus of the charity gala dinner. Titled Les Fruits De La Vigne, or fruits of the vine, it will be held on 3 May 2010 at The Fullerton Hotel Singapore.
Eight of Parker's highly-rated 100 Point wines, including Chateau Haut Brion 1989 and Harlan Estate Proprietary Red 2002, will be paired with exquisite dishes specially prepared by Chef Emmanuel Stroobant, the famous "Chef in Black" of Saint Pierre restaurant in Singapore, as well as a team of four resident chefs led by Executive Chef Morne Van Antwerp of The Fullerton Hotel Singapore. While guests are enjoying a specially crafted nine-course menu, Parker will expound on the characteristics of the wines and their exclusive dish pairings.
Held during dinner will be a charity wine and lifestyle auction. All proceeds from the charity wine and lifestyle auction will be donated to the National University Hospital Patient Care Charity Fund (NUH PCF), an organisation, which provides financial assistance to disadvantaged patients and their families in Singapore.
Interact with prestigious wine producers
During the two-day tasting session, titled Grand Tasting Singapore, 92 prestigious wineries from around the world will present over 250 of their Terroirs (wine from their unique geographical settings). Held in the intimate and premium setting of The Fullerton Hotel Singapore, this session will allow both new wine enthusiasts as well as seasoned connoisseurs to interact and learn more about wine appreciation.
International wine experts to conduct Master Classes
As part of the sessions, Master Classes by wine experts, guest sommeliers and Masters of Wines will be conducted. Luminaries such as Curtis Marsh, creator of thewanderingpalate.com and wine consultants, Hubert De Bouard and Michael Hill-Smith, owner of winery Chateau Angelus and the first Australian to receive the Master of Wine certification respectively will cover topics such as wine characteristics and emerging vintages and wine-producing regions around the world.
The prestigious Grand Tasting Singapore will conclude on 2 May with a special book-signing appearance by Parker.
