QUALCOMM, Inc. (NASDAQ:QCOM): For third quarter fiscal 2012, QUALCOMM, Inc. (NASDAQ:QCOM) announced a revenue of US$4.63 billion, up 28% from US$3.62 billion a year ago. However, the company lowered the top-end of its full fiscal year forecast for both revenue and adjusted earnings per share. By the end of Thursday's trading, shares of QUALCOMM soared 4.26% higher, moving up US$2.39 to US$58.44 per share. The stock traded 26.04 million shares in the last trading session, well above its daily average of 13.36 million shares. Johnson Controls, Inc. (NYSE:JCI): Shares of Johnson Controls Inc. (NYSE:JCI) were down on Thursday to their lowest value in nearly six months after the company slashed its fourth-quarter profit forecast. Shares of Johnson Controls ended with a drop of 7.94% to US$26.07 in the session after falling as much as 8.9% to US$25.80 - the company's largest intraday drop since January 19. Johnson Controls also reported that its sales and profit for the quarter ended June 30 fell short of analysts' estimates. Still, the company did have some strong news to report, with its net income for the second quarter coming in at US$417 million, or 61 cents per share, which was a 17% increase from the previous quarter. "While we saw a significant improvement in profitability in the third quarter, sluggish demand in some of our key markets along with a much weaker euro resulted in lower top line growth than we expected," said Stephen Roell, Johnson Controls CEO.
