University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business Offers EMBA in Beijing

COLLEGE PARK, Md. and BEIJING, Sept. 26, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/-- The University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business announces an extension of their partnership with the University of International Business and Economics that began in 2003. The announcement will be part of the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the University of International Business and Economics.

The joint 18-month program will begin in March 2012 and be taught by the Smith School's top-ranked faculty at the UIBE's campus. The program is part of a larger push by the university and state of Maryland to strengthen ties with the world's fastest growing economic power.

"This helps to advance the educational, research and economic development missions of the university and bolsters the state of Maryland's commitment to developing partnerships in China."

Smith School faculty members will travel to China to teach the majority of the courses, with the remainder taught by UIBE faculty. Students will earn an MBA from the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Management from UIBE. Classes will be held approximately once a month for four consecutive days at UIBE’s campus.

Like the Smith School's domestic EMBA - ranked No. 15 in the U.S. and No. 36 globally by the Financial Times -the curriculum of the China program focuses on teaching business managers how to evolve as innovative global leaders. The program focuses on individual coaching for participants with an emphasis on leadership and innovation in China and Asia. Students will take classes in the core business disciplines, as well as have the opportunity to learn about the U.S. business environment in a weeklong learning trip to Smith School's College Park, Md. campus just outside of Washington, D.C. The program also incorporates an action-learning engagement projects, enables students to tie their work experience and needs to their classroom work during the program.
