The Hurun Research Institute recently released the Hurun Chinese Luxury Consumer Survey 2016, which is the 12th report to be issued annually by the Institute. The Institute aims to reveal the lifestyles, relevant changes and consumption habits, as well as changes in the preferences of brand recognition of rich Chinese people. The Hurun "Best of the Best Awards" is widely recognized as the brand indicator that is targeted at high net worth individuals.
The survey lasted for nearly six months, during which the Institute surveyed 458 rich Chinese people whose personal assets exceeded CNY10 million. Of those surveyed, 57 (12%) had a net worth each of more than CNY100 million. The ratio of males to females was nearly one to one. The surveyed people came from more than 40 provinces and cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, as well as major second-tier cities in China. Wanda Hotels and Resorts was awarded the "Best Luxury Hotel Brand" thanks to its 11 self-managed brand hotels that had been newly opened in 2015, and the 84 existing five-star or above luxury hotels in China.
