The shows open today and run until May 1. The three shows feature nearly 2,000 booths from 14 countries and regions. This is the first time that Global Sources has held China Sourcing Fair: Gifts & Premiums, which is due to take place four times a year in three locations -- Hong Kong, Dubai and Shanghai.

Global Sources' Executive Director, Sarah Benecke, said: "We have attracted some of the world's biggest buyers to our on-site Private Buyer Meetings and Vendor Summits. The changing economic outlook is altering global buying behavior. Buyers are looking for more valuable interactions with quality suppliers. Meeting on-site in private with suppliers they have selected before the China Sourcing Fairs facilitates this."

Benecke added: "The China Sourcing Fair: Gifts & Premiums is a further specialization of our popular Gifts & Home Products show. Buyers have less time to source, so they need to ensure that they use their time effectively. Specialized shows help our buyers to source quickly and economically."

Sears' Divisional Vice President of Global Sourcing, Jay Burdett, said: "The global retail market and supply chain has changed so much in the last couple of months and we have to adapt to how consumers now choose to spend. One of the best ways we can find new suppliers who are financially stable and can handle our new requirements is to attend trade shows. And the China Sourcing Fairs are highly specialized so we make sure we attend. We save time, effort and money because we find exhibitors from our industry."

The China Sourcing Fairs feature a daily conference program for buyers, which includes information on buying from mainland China and effective sourcing during tough economic times. Fashion Accessories and Underwear & Swimwear feature daily fashion parades; Pantone's Color Trends for 2010; and a New Product Collection showcasing fabrics, lace, trimmings, underwear and swimwear.
