(Nasdaq: YONG), ("Yongye" or the "Company") a leading developer, manufacturer, and distributor of Shengmingsu brand plant and animal nutrient products in the People's Republic of China ("PRC"), today announced that both the Company's plant and animal nutrient products have won the "Special Houji Award" at the 16th annual China Yangling Agricultural Hi-Tech Fair (the "CAF") in December 2009.
The "Special Houji Award," which is named after "Houji," the god of agriculture in ancient Chinese mythology, is the top award conferred by the CAF. Yongye was one of only two companies from the 26 award winners at CAF that secured awards for two different products. Yongye's plant and animal nutrient products were also the only humic and fulvic acid based products to win awards at CAF.
Held every year in Yangling, Shaanxi Province, CAF is the largest and one of the most prestigious agricultural fairs in China. CAF covers a total area of 60,000 square meters and has more than and 1.5 million attendees, 1,300 indoor booths, and 10,000 exhibitors from over 40 countries. Established in 1994 and approved by the Chinese State Council in 1999, CAF is sponsored by 17 government ministries and several international organizations, such as the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Education, UNESCO, and the World Bank.
