TOKYO, February 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- In February 2013, the inaugural MEDIA AMBITION TOKYO (MAT) was launched on the 52nd floor of Roppongi Hills. The four-day event saw over 14,000 attendees, and this year's MAT from February 7 (Friday) through March 30 (Sunday) will be even bigger. The event will occupy the entire observation deck on the 52nd floor of Roppongi Hills to exhibit 18 works by 16 artists that promise to offer never-before-seen technological artworks and installations in synch with both the incredible view from the deck and the passage of time. At night, the venue will be taken over by innovators in the creative fields with live performances involving technological art, video, music, and more. By bringing together creators, members of the creative press, and gallery owners who have had very little interaction with technological culture in the past, MAT hopes to create a wholly original social networking event that will transmit Japan's unique technological culture from Tokyo to the rest of the world.

MEDIA AMBITION TOKYO (MAT) is a technological cultural event by the public for the public. It is not just a showcase for the intellectually curious, but also an opportunity for multi-genre creators and artists as well as developers and art buyers from around the world to gather in the real Tokyo and experience today's most cutting-edge forms of expression. Through experimental displays that incorporate technological art into everyday spaces, a visitor attraction system with an original focus, and presentations designed to boost demand for featured works, MAT intends to become an entirely new kind of communication program, one that can develop a new arts market through direct person-to-person interactions. Our goal is to create a strong impression of Japan as a center for technological art and to promote that view around the world. MAT is a completely new type of cultural event with an entirely unique perspective that will trigger and accelerate the spread of technological culture, through a kind of creative synergy never seen before.
