Great Place to Work(R) Presented the 2013 Best Companies to Work For(R) in Greater China

  • 51 companies participated this year, compared with 32 in 2012.

SHANGHAI, Dec. 31, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Great Place to Work® Greater China held the annual conference and awards ceremony event today.

This is the second year Great Place to Work® Institute published the list of the Best Companies to Work For® in the Greater China region. This publication is based on the results of the 2013 Chinese workplaces' culture research. Great Place to Work® is the only company that has a two-sided approach to understand workplace cultures: employee and manager. The employees' point of view is the key during the assessment and scoring process. The employees survey, named Trust Index©, represents two-thirds of the final score to participate in the list. The other part of the score is obtained from the results of the Culture Audit© (questionnaire for companies that helps Great Place to Work® understand and evaluate the practices, policies and culture of a company) and the survey open-answers from employees.

Last year's list was the result of the research and assessment of 32 companies located in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan and more than 60,000 employees surveyed. This year's results are based on the assessment of 51 companies located in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan with more than 100,000 employees surveyed.

Great Place to Work® opened the Hong Kong office in September 2011, and recently expanded to Shanghai in October 2013. These offices serve the entire Greater China region.  The organization has more than 18 years of experience in Asia Pacific and has witnessed the region's economic rise and social transformation. Worldwide, Great Place to Work® sets the standard for workplace excellence and has conducted pioneering research and evaluated companies in 52 plus countries over the past 30 years. This award ceremony is a celebration of this experience and a chance for participants to learn from this expertise and help transform their workplaces to stay abreast of the changes.

The conference event featured keynote speakers from Kimberly-Clark, NetApp, eBay and National Instruments to discuss matters related to leading and creating Best Practices as well as share their experiences as leaders of great workplaces. Kimberly-Clark, NetApp and National Instruments have been the World's Best Multinational Workplaces for three years running. Last year NetApp was number one on the 2012 Best Companies to Work For® list in Greater China, and National Instruments made the list as well.

The awards ceremony was dedicated to present the 2013 Best Companies to Work For® in Greater China. This was the first announcement of this years awarded companies, to be published in CBN Weekly and Sina Finance.

Great Place to Work® Greater China CEO, Jose Carlos Bezanilla said regarding the conference, "The current business environment is full of innovation and rapid development. Creating a high trust, cohesive workplace culture, to attract and retain talent, to enable enterprises to remain competitive, communicating openly and encouraging the spirit of innovation, allows companies to better adapt to this competitive environment."

The CEO continued, "This is the second time we published the Best Companies to Work For® in Greater China list. On our list of 12 companies, six of these companies were on the list last year. As more and more companies to join this appraisal, the competition to make it onto the list will increase in difficulty. This means that a successful company would be one which focuses on improving workplace environment and employee experience to engage in this healthy competition for excellence in the workplace."

"With the accumulation of data, we will continue to publish research on the workplace environment, enterprise management and discovery. We are excited to establish a list which reflects these industry leaders in building great workplaces. 'We are dedicated to building a better society by helping companies to transform their workplaces', this is our mission and what we aim to show with our list to recognize the companies that do so," he concluded.
