Hawaii Tech Asia Takes Hawaii & US Entrepreneurs To China

HONOLULU, Sept. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Eleven fast-growing technology companies from Hawaii and the U.S. willget first-hand knowledge of the ins and outs of doing business in China from local legal, accounting and business development experts when Hawaii Business and Entrepreneur Acceleration Mentors (HiBEAM) takes Hawaii Tech Asia to Hong Kong and Beijing, September 18-26. The companies will also meet with angel, venture and private equity investors as well as potential distributors, suppliers, partners and customers.

"We are exposing our entrepreneurs to Hong Kong because of its solid infrastructure of financial and private equity institutions, professional services and a pro-business government. Hong Kong has the environment for local and foreign companies to thrive in the region," noted Bee Leng Chua, executive director of HiBEAM.

"China is interested in our companies, and Hawaii Tech Asia showcases what the Hawaii companies are doing and can bring to the Asian market," she added.

With the help of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks and the HK Biotechnology Organization, CEOs will meet the scientific community. In Beijing, participants will visit the Tsinghua University Science Park (TusPark) and the Life Sciences Park at Zhongguancun in Haidian District, Beijing.

"Another component of this visit is talking with both Chinese and experienced expatriate entrepreneurs," added Chua.
