President's Council on Jobs to Meet in Community Following Operation HOPE Bus Tour in Los Angeles, April 24

LOS ANGELES, April 23, 2012 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- At the invitation of Operation HOPE, President Obama's Council on Jobs and Competitiveness announced today it will host a listening and action session of the council and its members in South Los Angeles on the occasion of Operation HOPE's 20th anniversary Bus Tour.

The HOPE Opportunity Bus Tour will commemorate 20 years of inspiring leadership and action from a diverse group of local leaders representing local government, private sector corporations, as well as community and faith based organizations. (Click here for event information)

The Jobs Council, which includes leaders from business, labor and academia, was created by the President in 2011 to provide diverse perspectives and ideas on how to create jobs and strengthen our nation's competitiveness. It last met at the White House in January to convey recommendations on the economy and job creation to President Obama.

The council works alongside the President's Advisory Council on Financial Capability to provide analysis and policy recommendations around social and economic issues facing the nation.

Operation HOPE Founder, Chairman and CEO John Hope Bryant has served as a member of the Financial Capability Council for the last three sitting presidents. He was recently appointed to chair the Subcommittee on the Underserved and Community Empowerment for the Council on Financial Capability.
