BEIJING, July 11, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The 2018 Beijing International Youth Tourism Season was formally kicked off on July 10 at the Beijing FUN. Key governmental attendees at the opening ceremony included Shi Anping, inspector of Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development, Yu Ping, deputy director general of Beijing Administration of Cultural Heritage, Liu Ji, director of the Xicheng Tourism Development Committee, Zhang Hui, secretary of Zhengyang Gate Management Office, Niu Yuhong, deputy researcher of Chaoyang Tourism Development Committee. The central axis is the soul of Beijing old city and contains traditional Chinese culture. It also represents the highest construction achievement of this ancient eastern civilization. The theme "Visiting the Ancient and Modern Central Axis" focuses on two topics including experiencing the traditional culture of old central axis and discovering the construction achievements of new central axis. The five sub-activities including "Axis of History", "Axis of Art", "Axis of Customs", "Axis of Fashion", and "Axis of Exploration" speak for the uniqueness and the profound culture of Beijing from different angles.
At the opening ceremony, Mr. Shi Anping, inspector of Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development invited international students, travel experts and young tourists to actively participate in various activities, experiencing the culture and perceiving heritage of Beijing. Participants also shared their experiences through live streaming social media like Weibo, Wechat and Instagram. According to Ms. Yu Ping, deputy director general of Beijing Administration of Cultural Heritage, the project of central axis applying for the World Cultural Heritage is the one of the priorities for Beijing government in recent years. The Municipal Commission of Tourism Development has promoted the culture of central axis in a number of activities. The Administration of Cultural Heritage will fully support the activities in order to protect the culture of central axis and root for the World Cultural Heritage application.
The sub-activities were released during the event. The "Axis of History" will organize a hiking event and invite a group of Chinese and foreign youths to hike through the magnificent historical buildings on the central axis and experience the beauty of the central axis culture. The "Axis of Art" will release HTML5 animations through Weibo, and collect art volunteers from extensive young people to deeply experience the old Beijing traditional art. The "Axis of Customs" will invite international travel experts to visit the alleys and celebrities' former residences, experience traditional Chinese medicine culture, intangible cultural heritage and old Beijing folk customs, and tell the story of the central axis. The "Axis of Fashion" will launch an online poll for Chinese and foreign youth to select the most popular destinations around central axis, showing the new look of Beijing city. The "Axis of Exploration" will show the construction achievements and development changes of the central axis extension line by comparing the new and old images.
