QUEBEC CITY, Feb. 23, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- World-renowned composer and pianist Steve Barakatt has been invited by the Korean Pops Orchestra to conduct his composition "He is from Seoul, She is from Pyongyang" at the Seoul Arts Center on March 6, 2018.

Written in 2011, Steve Barakatt's composition has gained more and more attention over the years among his South Korean fans and took on a very special meaning recently during the recent diplomatic efforts between South and North Korea at the 2018 Olympics.

"Having initially created the composition as a message of peace & hope, I see this performance as a unique opportunity for using the universal language of music to share a message of peace to the world, especially in such a significant context and at such an important period of history" commented Steve Barakatt.

Since the beginning of his career, Steve Barakatt has been involved in several humanitarian campaigns. He composed and launched the international campaign "Lullaby, The UNICEF Anthem" and participated in UNICEF's Imagine campaign as well as Amnesty International's project "Make Some Noise". He also presented an historic concert at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow to mark the 25th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child in the presence of ambassadors and diplomats from 35 countries.

Last year, Steve Barakatt received a plaque of appreciation from South Korean prime minister Lee Nak-yeon.

The March 6 performance in Seoul will be recorded and broadcast on several TV networks.
