Hong Kong Airlines Forms Strategic Cooperation with Tongcheng -- Experience Carefree Travel with Integrated Shanghai-Hong Kong-Bangkok Tourist Products

HONG KONG, Sept. 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Hong Kong Airlines (HKA), an internationally-acclaimed SKYTRAX 4-star airline, today announced a strategic cooperation with the China' leading online leisure travel agent, Tongcheng (LY.com). Mr. Li Dianchun, Commercial Director of Hong Kong Airlines, Mr. Ma Heping, Founder and Chief Marketing Officer of Tongcheng, and Mr. Liu Qing, Chief Executive Officer of Tongcheng Outbound Department attended the agreement signing ceremony, and jointly announced the strategic partnership. Under the agreement, HKA and Tongcheng will join hands to launch integrated tourist products in Shanghai, Hong Kong and Bangkok. In order to provide customers with the most carefree travelling experience, the cooperation will be facilitated by sales of HKA's international air tickets to the three destinations, exchange and procurement of associated tourism resources, and joint marketing promotions on digital platforms of both parties.

Benefiting from the booming economic and cultural exchanges between Hong Kong and Shanghai, and the Shanghai-Hong Kong stock connect which is expected to be launched in October 2014, the market saw a great demand of aviation traffic between the two cities. In order to meet the surging passenger demand, HKA has expanded its Shanghai route service from four flights to five flights a day starting from 1 August 2014. With the added frequency, 2,800 seats will be offered every day with different flight times, providing more choices to business and leisure travelers. HKA's five flights of Shanghai route will all be operated by A330 wide-body aircraft featuring 180-degree flat-bed seats in the business class.

HKA is also operating five round flight services per day between Hong Kong and Bangkok by A330 wide-body aircraft, which can connect seamlessly with Hong Kong-Shanghai route in terms of time slots and inflight experience. Through air ticket sales, exchange and procurement of associated tourism resources including hotels, attraction tickets and transportations, and joint marketing promotions on e-commerce and social media platforms, HKA and Tongcheng will prospectively develop a special integrated Shanghai-Hong Kong-Bangkok tourist product under this win-win cooperation.
