HONG KONG, Oct. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- RS Components (RS), the trading brand of Electrocomponents plc (LSE: ECM), the global distributor for engineers, has won three awards for its achievements in training and development at The Hong Kong Management Association's (HKMA) Award for Excellence in Training and Development. In recognition of the company's One World SAP implementation programme in Hong Kong which drove efficiency and business results, RS Components was presented a Bronze in the 'Campaign Award' category. The other two accolades of 'Distinguished Trainer Award' and 'Trainer of the Year' were presented to RS Components' Yvonne Yam, APAC Change Manager, SAP, who was instrumental in shaping how elements such as coaching, facilitation and change management were assimilated into training.
Integral to its wins was the One World Programme's focus on a holistic approach in facilitating the change from local to global, as it shifted the business to a new global operating model with one common global strategy. SAP implementation is a big part of the company's globalisation strategy. The One World programme sought to support teams in Hong Kong to acquire not only skills and knowledge but also facilitate mindset changes in becoming part of this transformation. Involving 110 employees, the SAP system platform was implemented in Hong Kong in eight months from 1 July 2013 to 28 February 2014.

For its demonstration of a learning initiative to improve specific skills and contribute to business results, RS Components was presented the Bronze in the Campaign Award. This was due to its adoption of a holistic programme, where new skillsets to adapt to new processes were cultivated and relationship changes in workgroups were also considered.
In addition, a "Blended Learning Solutions" was developed to support different learning styles and needs. This encompassed a variety of learning channels such as e-learning, classroom teaching, competitions, games and mock training environments

Organised by the Human Resources Development Management Committee of The Hong Kong Management Association since 1990, the Award for Excellence in Training and Development is the only award of its kind in Hong Kong that recognises achievements in training and development to individuals as well as companies.
