HONG KONG, March 19, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- At CeBIT 2015, TUV Rheinland jointly announced along with Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, that all Huawei campus switch products have received TUV Rheinland's Green Product Mark certification. Huawei is the first ICT solutions provider in the world that has had a complete product portfolio certified with TUV Rheinland's Green Product Mark. This recognizes Huawei's green-product strategy, as well as its superior performance in terms of environmental protection, resource recycling, energy conservation, EMC, safety-standards compliance, carbon footprint, and social responsibility.

TUV Rheinland has granted Green Product Mark certificates to multiple Huawei switch and router products, including the complete campus switch product portfolio, which includes S12700 series agile switches, S9700 Terabit core routing switches, S7700 series smart routing switches, S5700 series gigabit Ethernet switches. Multiple environmentally-friendly and energy-conserving technologies have been adopted for each, such as environment-monitoring chips, zone-based fan speed adjustment, and left-to-back airflow design.

TUV Rheinland Group spokesman for International Media Frank A. Dudley stated that, "Huawei has always been an ardent advocate of green philosophy in the ICT industry. Huawei's receipt of the TUV Rheinland Green Product Mark for its Complete Campus Switch Product Portfolio not only demonstrates its commitment to the pursuit of corporate sustainable development, but also recognizes its long-standing efforts in green communication. Together with Huawei, we aim to further expand the Green Product Mark's influence in the Chinese market, and promote a green revolution in the IT industry."

"Huawei follows the green principle throughout its product development, production, supply-chain management, transportation, and lifecycle-management processes, and uses green technologies to minimize negative impact on the environment," said Liu Shaowei, president of the Huawei Switch & Enterprise Communications Product Line. "We will help customers build energy-saving, green campus networks via full-process environmental protection control."

The first ICT solutions provider to receive TUV Rheinland's Green Product Mark certification, Huawei designed a strategy of "green communications, green Huawei, green world," and has applied it to all product-development activities since 2002, when the EU's environmental laws were issued. In April 2013, the Huawei S7700 series switches received the first Green Product Mark certificate from TUV Rheinland. Since then, Huawei has continued to employ green technologies in its products, and has taken the lead among ICT vendors in terms of environmental protection.

TUV Rheinland's Green Product Certification

TUV Rheinland's Green Product Certification is a voluntary sustainability certification that brings recognition to consumer products with the least impact on the environment. Our Green Product Certification is based on a safety evaluation of the product against various regulatory requirements, and a social Compliance Check for the product manufacturer. Additionally, we focus on four key dimensions: the responsible use of chemical substances, recyclability & the usage of recycled materials, energy consumption & efficiency, and determination of the product's carbon footprint. TUV Rheinland issues its Green Product Mark to certified products, which helps companies to demonstrate their corporate commitment and their products' international competitiveness to brands and retailers. The mark also gives buyers and end-consumers guidance in identifying green and sustainable products in the often-crowded marketplace.
