Teacher training at NAIS, HK showcases school's positive role in the local community

HONG KONG, April 10, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Nord Anglia International School, Hong Kong (NAIS, HK) today announced that the School has reached its expected goal of providing training for 250 local Hong Kong teachers in 2018 as part of its 'Local Teacher Training' programme.

NAIS, HK is committed to providing training for 250 local teachers each year, and has hit its target for the year ahead of its originally scheduled due date at the end of the academic year in June. The School reached its goal following a teacher training event hosted at the Diocesan Girls' Junior School on 9th April for 65 teachers.

Upon opening, NAIS, HK entered into a commitment with the Education Bureau of Hong Kong to provide training to at least 250 teachers annually. In 2017, the school provided training to nearly 300 local teachers, with topics such as classroom management, coaching skills, reading skills and Early Years foundations. Apart from training at other schools, workshops are often held in the school's facilities, which are available for use after school hours or on weekends.

Principal Brian Cooklin said, "Ever since NAIS, HK opened in 2014 August, we've been proud advocates of community outreach. As representatives of the Nord Anglia Education brand, we not only strive to offer the highest quality education, but to also be active in community work. NAIS, HK is ambitious about positively impacting our community and encouraging students to make outreach a bigger part of their lives."

NAIS, HK is proud to be a part of the Hong Kong community and to call the city home. Apart from helping Hong Kong build its leadership position in the education field, the School strives to contribute to local society as a responsible citizen by providing substantial public benefits. This is accomplished through fundraising and outreach efforts with various charities and organisations, having the School's world-class facilities being publicly accessible outside of school hours at no charge, and finally through extensive efforts to train local teachers through workshops and supervised training.
