SINGAPORE, May 7, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Now in its 19th edition, Publish Asia 2019 will see 250 key decision makers in the region's news industry meeting in Singapore May 7-9 to discuss the future of media. It is an exciting time to be in Asia's news industry, as media companies are rapidly transforming amid sweeping economic and political developments. With elections taking place in Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, India and elsewhere this year, the need for timely, accurate information to drive decision-making and inform the public is absolutely critical in a world which is awash with online falsehoods.
Also running concurrently will be Newsroom Summit Asia, which will offer dedicated sessions focusing on the challenges facing editors, newsroom managers and journalists. Featured topics include new initiatives, trends, solutions and heavyweight issues of concern to editors, including threats to editorial independence, journalist safety and sustainability.
Organised by the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA), Publish Asia is back in Singapore after moving across the region for the past 15 years. Its return to the Lion City coincides with the bicentennial of Singapore's modern founding, the 35th anniversary of Singapore Press Holdings and Channel NewsAsia turning 20.
Some 40 speakers from 14 countries will share their best practices at this three-day event with conference sessions and masterclasses designed for senior management, executives and editorial staff in the publishing and media industries. Hear from internationally-acclaimed speakers such as Juan Senor, President of Innovation Media Consulting Group and Raju Narisetti, Professor of Professional Practice at Columbia University and former CEO of Gizmodo Media Group, ex-SVP of Strategy at News Corp, former Washington Post Managing Editor, past Editor of the Wall Street Journal Europe and founder of Mint.

A group of masterclass participants will also visit Mediacorp, which has one of the largest newsrooms in the region, housing TV, digital and radio news teams in four languages working alongside each other on a single floor and also Bloomberg Singapore, to find out how the financial news giant delivers business and financial information, news and insights in 5,000 stories a day from over 176 locations around the world.
