The project marks a pioneering retrofit deployment of autonomous haulage technology on Komatsu HD1500 haul trucks and the first autonomous haulage deployment in an active mining production environment in the Kalgoorlie Goldfields region of Australia.

This milestone follows an extensive period of drive-by-wire system design and validation, system integration, localised autonomy feature validation, and safety tests undertaken to support deployment under Australian mining conditions at the Mulgarrie operation. Ahead of the commencement of autonomous operations at the Havana Pit, a range of infrastructure and operational readiness activities were completed to prepare the site for live production.

The fleet comprises trucks drawn from existing operations, each converted for autonomous operation through EACON's OEM-agnostic autonomy solution, including drive-by-wire retrofit. By leveraging in-service assets and existing haul road infrastructure, the project demonstrates a practical pathway for introducing autonomous haulage while minimising capital expenditure and disruption to ongoing production.

PMET Resources Inc. Both approaches – conventional by SGS Canada, and proprietary by Koch Technology Solutions – offer attractive process routes for caesium extraction from pollucite concentrate into marketable chemical products. The Company is motivated to consider caesium value-added chemical production (with key partners) to unlock maximum value from its globally significant caesium resource and its pollucite concentrates produced at site.

In addition to being one of the largest lithium-tantalum pegmatite Mineral Resources[1] and lithium pegmatite Mineral Reserves[2] globally, the Property also hosts the world's largest in-situ pollucite-hosted caesium pegmatite Mineral Resource, comprising 0.69 Mt at 4.40% Cs₂O (Indicated) and 1.70 Mt at 2.40% Cs₂O (Inferred). The CV13 Pegmatite, host to the caesium Mineral Resource, is located <3 km along trend from the CV5 Pegmatite, which is situated approximately 13 km south of the regional Trans-Taiga Road and powerline infrastructure corridor, and is accessible year-round by road.

The pollucite concentrate used as feed for both extraction testwork programs (Figure 1, top) was produced by X-Ray Transmission (XRT) ore sorting of drill core material from the Vega Caesium Zone at the CV13 Pegmatite (see news release dated October 9, 2025) and assayed 12% Cs₂O (Figure 2).

SGS Canada Caesium Extraction Testwork Program

At SGS Lakefield, a conventual process approach (Figure 1, bottom) for caesium extraction from pollucite concentrate is being advanced using sulphuric acid digestion (H₂SO₄) and subsequent impurity removal. The primary objective of this initial bench-scale test program is to identify a preliminary set of conditions to extract caesium at high recovery while characterizing (and limiting) the impurity profile.

The pollucite concentrate sample (~15 kg) was ground to varying sizes (P₈₀ of 75 µm to 212 µm) and a portion (<4 kg) subjected to sulphuric acid (H₂SO₄) leaching at varying temperatures (up to 120°C). The program was highly successful with the testwork achieving consistently high extractions of 97-98% Cs while maintaining significantly lower extractions of key impurities (e.g., Al). Further, subsequent impurity tests successfully removed the remaining aluminum (Al) and a majority of the sulphur (S) with negligible caesium (Cs) losses.

Additionally, the program also identified a potential opportunity to recover a rubidium by-product from one of the waste streams. Further characterization of this opportunity was not undertaken during this initial bench-scale caesium extraction test phase and will be investigated as a secondary objective in future work.

The testwork was completed at SGS Canada's Lakefield, Ontario, facility with support from Primero Group Americas and a Company-retained Subject Matter Expert ("SME") specializing in caesium extraction and recovery from pollucite. These three parties, in addition to TOMRA Mining, are also key contributors to the design and execution of the Company's ore sorting programs.

This test program is currently underway at SGS Canada's facility in Lakefield, Ontario, with results expected circa Q4 2026. 

Koch Technology Solutions Caesium Extraction Testwork Program

The testwork program with Koch Technology Solutions ("KTS") has been developed as part of a strategic relationship that has evolved following the Company's investigations of the caesium industry, commercial engagement, and research. The program will leverage KTS's demonstrated capabilities in engineering, development and commercialization of critical minerals extraction technologies to produce a range of value-added caesium chemical compounds.

The bench-scale test program being advanced by KTS is designed to assess the application of their proprietary flowsheet technology, to produce a range of value-added caesium chemical compounds. Approximately 6 kg of pollucite concentrate is being used to support the testwork.

Preliminary results from Phase 1 of the program indicate a strong and selective caesium recovery. The testwork will now move onto Phase 2 and the Company anticipates expanding the mandate to produce gram quantities of caesium derivative products as a complete bench-scale proof-of-concept.

Study Work Underway

A Preliminary Economic Assessment ("PEA") for the broader Project, incorporating lithium, caesium, and tantalum, is scheduled for completion in Q4 2026. The PEA will complement the Feasibility Study for the CV5 Pegmatite (lithium and tantalum), which is also scheduled for completion in Q4 2026, and will provide the first economic assessment of the Project's caesium potential.

LONDON, July 12, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- A new study of former elite soccer players provides important insights into brain health and player-reported neurological symptoms compared to people without a history of repetitive head impacts, according to the first and largest study of its kind in retired professional soccer players, presented today at the Alzheimer's Association International Conference^® (AAIC^®) 2026 in London and online.

The former players reported higher levels of depression and anxiety and had subjective difficulties with thinking and decision-making skills. MRI scans identified differences in brain structure between some former players and a comparison group of healthy people with no history of contact sports or head injuries. The findings add to a growing body of research, including additional studies reported at AAIC 2026, exploring how soccer play may influence brain health over time.

"These findings suggest there may be measurable effects on brain health in former elite soccer players even in mid-life, before clinically apparent neurodegenerative disease would typically emerge," said Caleigh Grace Lynch, M.Sc., lead author of the study and a research technician at Imperial College London and the UK Dementia Research Institute Centre for Care Research & Technology. "While we did not find significant differences in objective cognitive testing between the groups, we did observe important differences in symptoms and brain structure."

"Research like this helps us better understand brain health factors across the lifespan and reinforces the importance of injury prevention and monitoring," said Maria C. Carrillo, Ph.D., Alzheimer's Association chief science officer and medical affairs lead. "These findings can help players, physicians and sports organizations better understand the risks of contact sports and how to participate safely."

The study included 142 former professional soccer players, ages 30-60: 126 males who held a full-time professional contract for a minimum of three years, and 16 females who competed at the top two tiers of the women's professional game in the UK. They were compared to a control group of 56 healthy people (43 male) of the same age who have not played contact sports, served in the military and had no history of repetitive head impacts, concussion or other neurological issues.                            

Interim analyses of this dataset revealed that former elite professional soccer players reported significantly higher symptoms of depression and anxiety, as well as worse self-rated ability to plan, focus on and solve problems and manage daily tasks, compared to the control group. Nearly one-third of former players (31%) scored in the range indicating clinically significant depression symptoms, compared with 9% of controls, while 42% scored in the range indicating clinically significant anxiety symptoms, compared with 25% of controls.

Brain imaging of 124 former players revealed lower gray matter volume in several brain regions, including frontal, cingulate and thalamic areas that play important roles in memory, attention, decision-making and emotional regulation, compared to controls. At the group level, there was evidence of reduced brain volume in footballers compared with controls. Researchers report clinical review of the scans by a neuroradiologist found that a small proportion of the scans (~2%) had clinically significant atrophy suggestive of neurodegeneration. Further investigation is required to fully understand this result.

Researchers said the combination of elevated symptoms and altered brain volume patterns may suggest trauma-related neurodegeneration, but more research is needed to definitively prove this. Future work is planned to further investigate these findings, including the use of an expanded dataset, integration of additional biomarkers such as advanced diffusion imaging and blood-based biomarkers of neurodegeneration, and longitudinal follow-up.

"By following participants over time, we hope to better understand how repetitive head impacts may influence long-term brain health and neurodegenerative disease, and help inform strategies to make sports safer for future generations," said Thomas D. Parker, B.M., B.M.Ch., M.R.C.P., Ph.D., senior author of the study and clinical lecturer and consultant neurologist at Imperial College London and the UK Dementia Research Institute Centre for Care Research & Technology.

The study is part of the Advanced BRAIN Health Clinic Research Programme based at the Institute of Sport, Exercise & Health, an integrated clinical care and research initiative investigating the long-term effects of repetitive head impacts in retired elite soccer and rugby players.
