LONDON, Dec. 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Based on its recent analysis of the brushless direct current (BLDC) motors market for industrial automation, healthcare and motive applications, Frost & Sullivan recognizes Dunkermotoren with the 2014 European Product Line Strategy Leadership Award.

Dunkermotoren's latest additions to its BLDC motor product line, the BG95, Spiro Tec Gearbox (STG) 65 and BGA22, have significantly helped the company venture into new application areas in the industrial automation and motive segments. The BG95 will extend the available power range of BLDC motors to more than 1KW, while expanding its application range to include intra-logistic systems and material handling equipment.

Dunkermotoren's BG95 is a three-phase BLDC motor in the power range of 600W to 1,100W. It will be launched in November 2014 and is expected to replace AC servo motors in intra-logistic and material handling systems, where complex motion control provided by servo motors is not important. It also helps users reduce the high cost of commissioning associated with AC servo motors, as it significantly reduces the efforts for cabling.

The BG95 satisfies a major requirement in motive applications - delivering high power of up to 1,100W at a low voltage of 24V and 48V. Importantly, Dunkermotoren produces motors with an ingress protection (IP) rating 65 and higher. This is, for example, a primary requirement for applications in the agricultural sector, as it increases the longevity and efficiency of the motors by protecting them from external factors such as moisture and dust.

"Door automation and sun protection are the key application areas in which Dunkermotoren enjoys historically unmatched expertise," says Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Krishna Raman. "In these application areas, the company's DC motors and gear motors can be used in sliding doors, swing doors, revolving doors and external venetian blinds."

Dunkermotoren engages with its customers from the product design stage through engineering and manufacturing. The modular design structure of its BLDC motors, gear motors, control electronics and wide range of standardized components helps the company achieve a delivery time of 5 to 10 days against the industry standard of 7 to 15 days.

While competitors have been able to provide the advantages of brushless technology in material handling and intra-logistic applications, they have not been able to satisfy users' demand for higher power BLDC motors and gear motors. Dunkermotoren has plugged this gap with its extended product line, allowing customers to choose from a wide spectrum of power ratings - from 10W to 1,100W - and two different technologies (brushed or brushless), with different shaft mounting positions of the gear - angular or inline.

"With its extensive DC motor product line that includes products for a wide range of applications and higher output power than other existing products, Dunkermotoren has gained significant competitive advantage in the BLDC motor and gear motor market," notes Krishna Raman.

Each year, Frost & Sullivan presents this award to the company that has developed a comprehensive product line that caters to the breadth of the market it serves. The award recognizes the extent to which the product line meets customer base demands, the overall impact it has in terms of customer value as well as increased market share.

Frost & Sullivan Best Practices awards recognize companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service and strategic product development.

Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis and extensive secondary research to identify best practices in the industry.
