HONG KONG, Feb. 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Grouvly, Hong Kong's first hangout app, is setting up drinks between 2 groups of friends: 3 girls & 3 guys and has just secured HKD 1.5 million in seed capital from international angel investors after only 4 weeks since its launch in early January this year.
As an online social club, Grouvly sets up drinks between two groups of people: 3 girls & 3 guys. Targeting at young and busy professionals in Hong Kong, Grouvly encourages people to meet in the real world without lame online profiles or text messaging. By arranging drinks between two groups of friends, Grouvly hopes to remove the awkwardness of the 1 on 1 blind date and make meeting new people fun and relaxing.
'We are not a Dating site, but a Social Club. Young busy professionals have a one-button solution where we guarantee we will sit them in front of a group of 3 girls or 3 guys with similar interests in a comfortable environment.' Co-founder Camilo Paredes emphasizes.
So how does Grouvly work?
Visit www.grouvly.com and sign up via Facebook to apply. Grouvly will screen your profile, and then match you by hand according to the information they collect (photos, age, height, educational background, career, interests, and lifestyle).
Then you grab 2 friends (they call them wingwomen/wingmen) to come along with you and prepay the first round of drinks on the site – which also ensures that everyone shows up. Grouvly will book the table for the group at a premium bar/lounge and tell everyone where to meet. Next, you meet another group of three and the rest is up to you guy.
The cost is HKD 150 per person each time and the first round of drinks is included at the bar.
Commenting on Grouvly's service, Camilo pointed out three major reasons why it is worth a try: 1) As an invite-only social club with 60% acceptance rate, Grouvly guarantees the quality of its members; 2) With friends, people feel safe and comfortable during their Grouvly gathering; 3) Grouvly makes people's life easier—after people sign up, Grouvly takes care of everything: hooking them up, handpicking a venue & booking the best table for them.
Grouvly's recent goal is to launch its service in Singapore in 3 weeks, and then aims to continue its expansion into other well-developed Asian countries including South Korea, Japan, Taiwan and China.
