SHANGHAI, Aug. 29, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- In recent years, annual coffee consumption in China has risen quickly by 30%. It is estimated that China will become one of the biggest coffee-consuming countries in 2020. Expo Coffee & Tea, as one of the theme exhibitions of HOTELEX Shanghai, will be held from 31 March to 3 April 2014 at the Shanghai New International Expo Center.
Expo Coffee & Tea has attracted over hundreds of exhibitors taking over a 20,000 sq.m. exhibition area. Up to now, over 90% of exhibition space has been booked by international brand pavilions. Bezzera, illy, Petroncini from Italy, Firsttea, Drago Mocambo, WMF, Ronnefeldt from Holland, Hario, UCC, KALITA, FUSHI from Japan, FETCO, Bunn, Selecto from the U.S. and Twinings from the UK. The expo has been a hot spot, attracting professional buyers from cafes, hotels, catering companies, bakeries and bars.
China Barista Championship Shanghai Division kicks off
The China Barista Championship (CBC) is the exclusive professional competition authorized by the WBC. CBC aims to provide a platform for coffee professionals and enthusiasts to share, compete and celebrate. CBC was introduced to China by Shanghai UBM Sinoexpo in 2003. It has become the cradle of rising young coffee professionals in China. CBC has marched into her 12th year with 20 division competitions covering the eastern, northern and south-western regions of China. Champions representing 20 division competitions will gather at HOTELEX Shanghai 2014 to battle it out for the exclusive spot to compete at WBC 2014.
The Shanghai division will be held from 17-22 September at Isetan Mall. As the highlight of Shanghai Tourism Festival, the competition will be an exciting place for the best baristas from surrounding cities to showcase their techniques and passion for coffee. Judges come from cutting-edge coffee shops, such as KONA Coffee, Seesaw Coffee, Mingqian Coffee, Pangke Coffee and Zhiguan Coffee, representing the frontier of the Chinese coffee industry. The Shanghai division will also set up a carnival area featuring top coffee brands from Italy, Switzerland, Japan and Brazil including HARIO, WEGA, Lavazza, Alfredo and JASCAFFE, amongst others.
