-A celebration of motorsport culture for the entire family

BEIJING, Sept. 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The British Motorsport Festival (BMF), to be held on the 1st of October in Beijing at the GoldenPort Race Circuit, brings together British car brands, lifestyle brands, self made e-karts, and family activities for Chinese and expatriates to come together to have fun both on the race track and in a British-themed paddock. The goal is to create an event that appeals to each member of the family, with the opportunity for everyone to take part behind the wheel. The BMF has the support of the British Government, 6 leading British car brands and a number of leading consumer and lifestyle brands providing music, food and drinks on-site.

Motorsport events in Great Britain are fun, inclusive, and also play a key part in the development of the industry both in commercial and cultural terms. Events bring together car brands and related products and services with consumers with a focus on actually seeing cars in action, and providing non-car entertainment at the same venue and time. The British Motorsport Festival in Beijing brings together both household names and more niche brands including Aston Martin, Jaguar Landrover, Mclaren, Mini, Morgan and Radical. In the consumer pavilions are British brands including Costa Coffee, Tiptree,  WAKE Drinks, ACE Cafe, PFB Trading and Cambridge Masks. Music will be provided by UK Company, VINTAGE TV.

The one-day event will host a number of events both on and off the track at GoldenPort. Jaguar Land Rover will be offering test drives around the 2.4km track with its full product line-up, including the newly launched Jaguar XFL. On Saturday morning GreenPower China, the partner of GreenPower UK, will stage an e-kart race in the paddock with 9 schools competing against one another with battery-powered karts that they have made themselves from kits. The track will then be used for go-karting, managed by SD Karting. Welsh Alumnus and entrepreneurs Mercury Dynamic, will host a kids electric car track for the smaller visitors. Saturday afternoon will see the newly formed "WAKE ASR Open," an amateur class saloon race, which will include Sharlie Goddard from the UK representing the British Womens Race Driver Club. Visitors will be able to pre-book "hot laps," where they are driven by professional drivers around the circuit in one of the super cars at the venue. Keeping an eye over all will be the BMF "Safe|Speed" Mascot, Ali the Fox, in collaboration with iDreamcastle.

Founder of the British Motorsport Festival, Jim James, said, "We aim to build an event which shares the fun and entertainment of a British festival based around motorsport for all. The focus is to provide safe experiences, with people spending quality time with one another with a shared interest in all manner of vehicles travelling at which ever speed suits them. In the process we hope that visitors will come to learn more about Britain, and that this fosters greater ties between our two countries and the development of a Sino-British motorsport culture."

The BMF has the support of the British Government and British organisations in China which are working together to improve relations between the 2 countries. The Department of International Trade, formerly UKTI, British Council, China Britain Business Council, British Chamber of Commerce, and Confederation of British Industry have all actively promoted the event.

Minister-Counsellor and Director, Advanced Manufacturing & Transport at the D.I.T, Dr. Mark Wareing, commented, "Motorsport culture is a key part of British society, and fuels over 4,500 companies and some GBP9 billion in revenue for our economy, not to mention the thousands of events taking place every year centred around bringing together people to experience motorsport in all its forms. The D.I.T. supports the BMF because we see this as a brilliant platform to promote what is best in Britain here in China, and to encourage more trade between our two countries."

The British Motorsport Festival brings together car marques in a unique setting, as unlike a one brand event or a trade show where cars are static, the cars can be seen side by side and actually driven in a completely safe and controlled environment. This gives brands the opportunity to showcase the full benefits of their vehicles and allows consumers to browse across the paddock and see both mainstream luxury cars and dedicated track vehicles, all of which are designed and built in the UK. The opportunity to book hot laps means that even those who are not potential customers can enjoy the experience of these unique cars.

One of best known brands to take part is Jaguar Land Rover. In 2016 the company celebrates the 6th anniversary since the British premium auto manufacturer entered the China market in 2010. Commenting on the multi-format activity, a Jaguar Land Rover spokesperson said, "The British Motorsport Festival has a unique blend of showcase and experience for the whole family, offering visitors the opportunity to view cars at their leisure while also engaging in entertainment based around motorsport. Jaguar Land Rover looks forward to showcasing all our Jaguar and Land Rover modelsand inviting the media and our customers to the British Motorsport Festival."

Held at the GoldenPort Race track in Chaoyang, the British Motorsport Festival will open on 1st October and access will be via advance tickets sales. The activities will run 10:00 to 18:00. Insurance is provided by Helirun Brokers, underwritten by China Pacific Property Insurance Co., Ltd.
