In Indonesia, the demand for building materials and its supporting elements is growing in line with the property sector. Based on the Residential Property Price Survey (SPHRR) published by Bank Indonesia, at Q4 of 2017 sales of residential homes grew by 3.05 percent (qtq). In addition, as stated in the Internet of Things (IOT) requirements of smart home concepts such as CCTV, alarm detectors, gas sensors and security systems using finger prints are becoming crucial elements. The growth of smart homes in Indonesia is driven by the property industry that offers automation as an advantage, which has resulted in higher consumer demands[1]. This technology is expected to be a solution for a modern society that demands more privacy and comfort.

The benefits of new technologies are also experienced by construction service providers and architects, as they are required to provide safe and quality yet environmentally friendly building designs. Construction of projects becomes easier and concise because of innovation, such as the usage of pre-cast concretes and wiring.

Steven Chwee General Manager of Reed Panorama Exhibitions (RPE) said, "This year Megabuild is introducing smarter and safer homes which prioritize design structure but have high aesthetic value, including the selection of raw materials and technological features as added values both for the building and for the environment. We believe Megabuild 2018 will be able to bring new nuances and solutions for all stakeholders ranging from architects, interior designers and construction workers as well as technology companies. This exhibition creates an opportunity to introduce products, provide solutions and establish cooperation across all businesses."

"This year Megabuild presents 4 pavilions and 19 participating countries/regions including Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, mainland China, India, Italy, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Australia, USA, Mexico, Turkey, Myanmar, Hong Kong, Spain, Germany, Brazil and Vietnam. In addition, the exhibition will showcase the latest products in the building, interior and architectural design industries for more than 500 brands with 1,000 selected products, covering 13 major product segments across a wide range of building materials, design solutions, and latest technology and systems which plays a role to encourage the rapidly developed building materials and construction industries. The newest segment in this event is Security, Safety and Facility Management (SSF) featuring the latest technology of security systems," explained Steven.

Occupying an area of 30,000 square meters and expected to attract more than 50,000 visitors, the 2018 Megabuild Indonesia exhibition will be the most complete exhibition in the architecture, interior designs and building materials sectors in Indonesia. The exhibition will have presentations such as Green Building Council Indonesia Seminar, workshop by Indonesian Engineers Association (PII), Interior Design Clinic by HDII, Seminar by Indonesian Landscape Architects Association (IALI), new product presentation, business matching, network gathering by the National Contractors Association of Indonesia (Gapensi).
