China Medical Technologies Announces the Approval of the Renewed High and New Technology Enterprise Status for a Major Subsidiary in China

BEIJING, October 17, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia-FirstCall/ -- China Medical Technologies, Inc. (the "Company") (Nasdaq: CMED), a leading China-based advanced in-vitro diagnostic ("IVD") company, today announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary Beijing Yuande Bio-Medical Engineering Co., Ltd. ("Beijing Yuande") has passed the examination by the relevant government authorities and renewed its high and new technology enterprise status for another three year period from January 2011 to December 2013. With this status, Beijing Yuande is qualified for a preferential corporate income tax rate of 15%, which is lower than the statutory corporate income tax rate of 25%, as well as other government incentives for high and new technology enterprises.
