President Joko Widodo Graciously Accepts to be the Honorary Fellow of World Islamic Economic Forum

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, April 29, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- At the recent courtesy call in Jakarta, the Honorable President Joko Widodo of Indonesia graciously accepted the invitation of the Honorable Tun Musa Hitam, Chairman of the WIEF to be the Honorary Fellow of the World Islamic Economic Forum.

The only other Honorary Fellow of the WIEF is the President of the Islamic Development Bank, the Honorable Dr Ahmad Mohamed Ali Al Madani.

President Jokowi was also invited to deliver a Special Address at the 11th WIEF to be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on 3 - 5 November this year. 

Accompanying Tun Musa Hitam at the courtesy call were the WIEF International Advisory Panel Member and Founder & Chairman of the Executive Centre for Global Leadership, Indonesia, Mr Tanri Abeng and the WIEF Secretary-General Tan Sri Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak.

With the theme 'Building Resilience for Equitable Growth', the 11th WIEF will give special emphasis to SMEs with over 3,000 government leaders, captains of industries, entrepreneurs, academia and digital experts expected to meet and explore business opportunities that transcend international borders, religion and culture.

During the meeting President Jokowi wished Tun Musa Hitam and the WIEF Secretariat well in its preparations for the 2015 Forum in Kuala Lumpur.

In speaking to the media, Tun Musa Hitam said, "I look forward to President Jokovi's personal contribution, as an Honorary Fellow, to further elevating the growing stature of the WIEF in promoting greater cohesion, collaboration and integration through business between the Muslim world and the non-Muslim nations and communities around the globe. Being the largest Muslim country in the world, Indonesia is certainly well placed to be an important prime mover in various fields that would bring huge benefits for the economic well being of the Ummah."
