NVIDIA's next-generation netbook platform integrates mobile TV
TAIPEI, Taiwan, June 4 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Siano Mobile Silicon ( http://www.siano-ms.com ), a leading global mobile digital TV (MDTV) chip maker, announced today that its multi-standard mobile TV receiver chip, the SMS1150, has been selected by NVIDIA, a world leader in visual computing technologies, to power its new reference platform. Embedded within NVIDIA's new Tegra netbook reference design, being demonstrated at this week's Computex show in Taipei, Siano enables high-resolution mobile TV, complimenting additional multimedia-rich features of the Tegra netbook platform.
The new platform is based on the Windows CE operating system and offers, in addition to mobile TV, an array of advanced features: full desktop web browsing, including streaming video, ultra-low power audio playback, and up to 1080p HD video playback. Siano's SMS1150 multi-standard receiver chip, embedded inside the new platform, enables both standard-definition (SD) and high-definition (HD) mobile TV for portable devices. Supporting broadcast of DVB-T, ISDB-T, DVB-H, DAB, T-DMB and CMMB TV signals, Siano's global footprint of MDTV reception enables NVIDIA to extend its market reach of the Tegra platform.
NVIDIA will be demonstrating live DVB-T broadcast on the new platform during this week's Computex show in a private meeting suite.
