TAIPEI, September 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The News Lens, the independent media start-up positioning themselves as commentary-focused media, announced its official launch of its bilingual international edition today. The new edition will target second-generation Chinese immigrants and both Chinese and English language learners. The launch of the international edition is the company's first step in expanding its territory into the global market and sets an important milestone. In 2015, after only two years of its establishment, The News Lens has experienced fast growth in both company size and Internet reach while being a start-up and a new media. Through providing readers with articles of different perspectives, the company had rapidly scaled up its number of Monthly Unique Visitors by 500% on a year-by-year basis. The News Lens's best records for traffic rankings are 86th in Alexa traffic rankings and 9th in comScore website reach ranking under the category of Media and News.

With the launch of the international edition, co-founder and CEO of The News Lens, Joey Chung, says, "The country that is most able to accommodate with different voices and point of views among all Asian countries is Taiwan. Our goal is to create a Taiwan-based independent media capable of exporting quality news to the world. While global audiences are turning their reading habits to the Internet-based media, we had received countless e-mails from overseas readers who care about Taiwan and wish to see more of our news published in English so that they can read it without any difficulties. Therefore, we created our bilingual international edition to keep up with trend and fulfill our readers' needs, hoping that the world can have a better understanding of the Asian point of view and Taiwan's point of view. "

The News Lens International edition, featuring bilingual reading experiences, is especially designed for the needs of overseas second and third generation Chinese immigrants, local expatriates living in the Asia-pacific region who want to fit in with locals and language learners. Combined with online English learning tools provided by TutorABC, this promising new bilingual edition will first present its media perspective in text-based forms, and then develop more bilingual video content optimized for mobile device users. Voices and News articles will target readers in the southeast Asia region simultaneously. The medium-term goal for the company is to continue to expand the number of staff in Hong Kong and conduct the assessment of future IPO possibility two to three years later.

"In the Chinese edition of The News Lens, our currently most popular articles are international news and reviews." The News Lens Co-founder and Editor-in-Chief Yang Shi-Fan points out, "Understanding different viewpoints is a rock-solid belief in our company. The international edition will uphold this convention, and aside from international news, our new edition will provide a platform for columnists from all regions to express their opinion. Moreover, we will publish newsreels with both English and Chinese subtitles, placing ourselves in a greater tactical position within the global mobile-oriented video newsfeed market."

"Reading English news is an excellent way of enhancing English proficiency used by many language learners," said Zhao Hsin-Ping, brand and public relations vice president of TutorABC. "English is power, language is power! English abilities have become basic requirements to connect with the world. Through The News Lens International Edition, we are pleased to offer another English learning platform for readers around the world, including daily word sections and so on."

Being an overseas student from a young age, Liu Xuan, now a well-known author, has experienced the long journey of studying abroad to finding his own roots in his hometown. "I met a lot of talented and passionate Taiwanese that are eager to contribute to the society along my journey," says Liu Xuan. "In order to do so, I suggest to not only develop your own point of view, but also to sharp your language skills. This is how you can make a greater impact."
