This event was co-organised by the Tourism Board of Pengshui County, Chongqing, Zhubajie.com, Witmart.com, Time Fragments New Media Co., Shaanxi TV, HKSTV, Chongqing Evening Paper, and the City Paper. On June 2, a competition was held officially to encourage people from different countries to send in their love letters through www.zhubajie.com and www.witmart.com, as a way to revive people's interests in writing love letters, especially in the age of the Internet.

The competition has served its purpose well. Within 40 days, more than 3,000 love letters were submitted from all over the world, the oldest of which had been kept for 69 years. After several rounds of assessment, 109 love letters made it to the final round and shared a prize of 200,000 yuan. Ten Chinese female journalists, as ambassadors of this love letter competition, will seal the 109 love letters into bottles and drift them down the Ayi River.

Besides travelling through the Ayi River, all 109 love letters will be transcribed onto a wall that forms the Ayi Love Letter Corridor. This will be the world's first Love Letter Wall.

At the launch of the "Love Letter In A Bottle" event, a ceremony was also held to commemorate the beginning of the shooting process for short films. It is reported that six short films, based on and adapted from the love letters collected in this competition, will be shot at Pengshui. They are expected to be released in November 2013.

Pengshui County is located downstream of the Wu River in southwest China. It is best known as the healing place for love. People suffering from relationship issues often find refuge and peace in this county. Pengshui welcomes not only Chinese tourists, but also anyone from any country who would like to experience the healing power of Pengshui.
