Utility Model Patents on Fabric Innerduct Were Invalidated in China

BEIJING, March 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Patent Reexamination Board of State Intellectual Property Office of PRC (PRB) made an examination decision that utility model patent No. 201220229261.7 of Guangzhou Tongbo Telecom Equipment Co., Ltd. was invalid due to no inventiveness over the prior art on September 29, 2014.

The said utility model was applied in 2012 and named as "cable protection tube" which was actually related to the fabric innerduct in the telecom industry.

Shortly after Tongbo's utility model patent invalidation, on December 25, PRB made another examination decision that utility model patent No. 201220492870.1 of Changzhou Nanbo Composite Material Co., Ltd. was invalid due to the same reason.

The said utility model was applied in 2012 and named as "a weaving innerduct" which was actually related to the fabric innerduct in the telecom industry.

"For fabric innerduct or flexible innerduct, Milliken & Company currently enjoys the exclusive rights on Chinese patent ZL 00807334.1 and owns a number of other patents for flexible inner duct in China and worldwide," stated Jim Porterfield, Global Market Director at Milliken & Company, "these decisions from PRB show China is committed to improving the quality of utility model patents."
