With this message Frost & Sullivan presented Mr Stefan Crets, the Executive Director of CSR Europe, with the GIL (Growth, Innovation and Leadership) Award during its recent conference GIL 2014: Germany, in Frankfurt.

CSR Europe is the leading European business network for Corporate Social Responsibility. It gathers over 10 thousand companies, and acts as a platform for those businesses looking to enhance sustainable growth and positively contribute to society.

In his acceptance speech, Mr Crets highlighted the importance of sustainable growth and the role of businesses in supporting a healthy society.

Director and Partner Dorman Followwill introduced the idea behind Frost & Sullivan's GIL Awards which are precisely designed to celebrate remarkable individuals such as Mr Crets who - with their contributions - are helping to make the business environment a better place.

"We are proud to recognise and pay tribute to a passionate and innovative leader who has made specific career choices to truly drive the cause of Corporate Social Responsibility in Europe.  Leveraging his successes at Toyota Europe, Mr Crets then took a crucial career decision to apply his knowledge and innovative approaches as Executive Director of CSR Europe, where he is able to touch not one single company as he did at Toyota, but as many as 10 thousand companies across Europe.  This choice, and the innovative vision it represents, merits special recognition.  Mr Crets has changed the way CSR strategies can be applied intelligently in businesses throughout Europe," says Mr Followwill.

Before joining CSR Europe, Mr Crets worked as the CSR leader at Toyota Europe where he developed and implemented a new strategy which informed Toyota's worldwide approach. Prior to his experiences at Toyota, he was Programme Advisor at the King Baudouin Foundation, and started his professional career as a research academic at the University of Antwerp. His deep knowledge of corporate sustainability challenges brings CSR Europe first-hand experience of developing CSR strategy and practice in a company.
