LOS ANGELES, Sept. 22, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Association to Invest in the USA (IIUSA), and the American Dream Fund (ADF) as the host city sponsor, will host the 6th Annual EB-5 Industry Forum in Los Angeles from October 10-11. The forum will draw more than 400 industry experts and government officials, including Julia Harrison, Deputy Chief of the Immigrant Investor Program Office (IPO) of US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Michele W. Layne, Regional Director of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Los Angeles Regional Office, and Charles Oppenheim, Chief of the Visa Controls Office of the U.S. Department of State (DOS). ADF co-founders Joseph McCarthy and George W. Ekins will attend and deliver speeches on the latest trends in EB-5s and updates on newly proposed EB-5 legislative reforms heading into the program's reauthorization.
IIUSA, founded in 2005, is the national not-for-profit industry trade association for the EB-5 Regional Center Program, and accounts for a vast majority of capital formation and job creation in the U.S. resulting from the program. An integral part of IIUSA's mission is to stimulate economic development and job growth through continued success of the program as well as advance and maintain industry standards and best practices. ADF, as the city host sponsor of the event, plays an important role within IIUSA as members of the Board of Directors and senior leadership for IIUSA.
In July, ADF, together with the leading industry trade and advocacy organizations, such as IIUSA, the American Chamber of Commerce, the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), the Real Estate Roundtable, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the EB5 Investment Coalition (EB5IC) together sent a consensus letter to congress, urging for immediate reauthorization of the EB-5 Program. In this letter, ADF has made their strong support for the reauthorization of the EB-5 Regional Center Program, which Congress must reauthorize, very clear, and that they should not allow it to lapse prior to its scheduled sunset date of September 30, 2016. ADF is devoted to making the EB-5 industry more viable, transparent and sustainable for the long-term. George W. Ekins, co-founder of ADF and board member of IIUSA, has pointed out that this consensus letter represents a milestone in the EB-5 industry. At the same time, ADF encourages Industry stakeholders to promote the initiative to congress.
The 6th Annual EB-5 Industry Forum, as the first industry dialogue after the September 30th sunset date, is this year's premier EB-5 conference focusing on educational and business development on a global scale. It will also feature panels on legislative and regulatory activities that will shape the future of the EB-5 program and influence the direction of new legislation that will change the EB-5 industry.
