The pleasant folk songs and the fun atmosphere are very warm and inviting, the folk songs have moved from the southwestern edge of Hunan province into other parts of China and now New York with June 6th Folk Song Festival. This display in Times Square provided the Hunan (Nanshan) Folk Song Festival global exposure and has brought more influence to the festival.

The June 6th Fork Song Festival has been held for nineteen years. This event was sponsored by CPC Shaoyang Municipal Committee, The People's Government of Shaoyang, Hunan Musicians Association, and organized by Publicity Department of CPC Shaoyang Municipal Committee, Ethnic and Religious Affairs Committee of Shaoyang, Shaoyang Municipal Bureau of Culture, Sports, Radio and News, Shaoyang Bureau of Tourism and Foreign Affairs, Hong Kong Macao and overseas Chinese Affairs, Shaoyang Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Shaoyang Television, CPC Chengbu Miao Autonomous County Committee, The People's Government of Chengbu Miao Autonomous County.

The folk song festival is regarded as the nation's foremost folk song competition and as a starting point to find folk singers from around the country, eventually the elite singers gathered at the foot of the south mountain to hold their festival, and sing songs with their thoughts and feelings of love with the beautiful mountain scenery in the background.
