Award recognizes the leading Asia Pacific telecommunications service provider for its outstanding business performance

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Oct. 13 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Pacnet was recognized for its excellence in growth leadership by consulting firm Frost & Sullivan and bestowed the Company of the Year for Excellence in Growth Award at an awards ceremony held today, alongside the Frost & Sullivan GIL 2009: Asia Pacific Congress in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

"Pacnet has pursued aggressive yet profitable growth in its Asia Pacific operations by a mixture of well executed strategies and a strong understanding of bandwidth needs across the markets. Its superior infrastructure and focus on key customers like content players has helped it achieve industry leading growth rates in a very competitive market segment. Frost & Sullivan believes that a combination of excellent growth in revenues and new customer additions makes Pacnet a deserving recipient of the Growth Excellence Award," said Manoj Menon, Partner and Asia Pacific Managing Director, Frost & Sullivan.

Each year, Frost & Sullivan awards the Company of the Year for Excellence in Growth Award to the company that has demonstrated significant excellence in growth leadership, implemented innovative strategies in this process, had significant industry impact and displayed thought leadership. Recipients are chosen by Frost & Sullivan's team of analysts based on factors including social impact, overall market growth and penetration, profit margins, overall industry impact and growth in market share.

"We are honored and encouraged by this recognition from Frost & Sullivan as our team continues to focus on delivering our best to customers across all market segments," said Bill Barney, Pacnet's Chief Executive Officer. "With the explosive growth of broadband in Asia, Pacnet will continue to drive our strategy with focus on expanding our network infrastructure, launching innovative products and services, while raising the bar in customer service."

Earlier this year, the company completed a significant capacity upgrade which almost doubled the capacity on EAC-C2C, the Asia Pacific region's largest privately-owned subsea cable network. Pacnet owns and operates the 36,800km long subsea cable network which has dual landing points in China, Hong Kong, Korea, Philippines and Singapore, and three landing points in Japan and Taiwan, providing industry-leading network resiliency and route diversity.

Pacnet is also on track in the construction of EAC Pacific, part of the Unity cable system, a US$300 million, 10,000km trans-Pacific cable system that is being built by a global consortium to connect Chikura, Japan with the west coast of the United States. Pacnet's EAC Pacific consists of two of the five fiber pairs in Unity, with each fiber pair capable of carrying up to 960 Gbps. The new infrastructure will be ready for service during the first quarter of 2010.

Pacnet continues to launch new enhancements to its Unified Communications portfolio and its most recent release includes Pacnet Virtual Conferencing (VC) Plus, a product which enables high definition multiparty video conferencing over the Internet without the need for huge dedicated bandwidth requirements and costly equipment. The company is also gearing up to deploy high speed Ethernet technology across financial markets and is making plans for further network upgrades which will be announced in the coming weeks.
