Global Sources' new China Sourcing Fairs feature exhibitors of a wide variety of consumer products

JOHANNESBURG, Dec. 1, 2010 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Global Sources (Nasdaq: GSOL) today opened its 1st Annual China Sourcing Fairs in Johannesburg, the largest Greater China-products exhibitions ever to be held in Africa. The exhibitions, which feature 640 exhibitor booths, are to be held December 1-3, 2010, at the Gallagher Convention Centre, Gallagher Estate, Midrand, Johannesburg, South Africa.

"The response to this event has been overwhelming," said Tommy Wong, President of Global Sources Exhibitions. "Continental Africa and South Africa specifically are markets in which Greater China manufacturers are very interested.  China trade with Africa expanded 39.5 percent to US$27.92 billion in the first seven months of 2009, reflecting growing demand for China-made products."

"With such an expansive array of suppliers from mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, as well as from India and the Philippines, the China Sourcing Fairs offer importers and volume buyers throughout the region a wide selection of products from the world's most attractive sourcing markets," said Wong.

Joining Mr. Wong to officially open the events were:

-- Mr. Chen Yong, Deputy Consul-General of the People's Republic of China
       in Johannesburg, South Africa
-- Mr. Li Yuan, Commercial Counselor, Economic & Commercial Section,
Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China in Johannesburg,
       South Africa

The China Sourcing Fairs feature manufacturers of consumer electronics, fashion accessories, garments and textiles, gifts and premiums, home products, and hardware and building materials.

The Fairs are exclusively for importers, traders, and other volume buyers who purchase consumer products for resale to markets throughout Africa. Nearly 35,000 qualified buyers had registered to attend the events in Johannesburg, with about a third coming from South Africa and continental Africa.
