New Busan Location Will Expand the Company's Presence in North East Asia
SEOUL, South Korea, March 6 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Birkart Globistics, a leading provider of global logistics, transportation and freight forwarding services and the Air + Ocean division of Thiel Logistik AG, today announced that it has opened a new office in Busan, South Korea. The new office will be spearheaded by Mr. Shawn Lee, Managing Director of Birkart Korea, and managed by local Branch Manager, Mr. W.S. Shin.
According to Mr. Lee, the new office which significantly expands Birkart Globistics' presence in North East Asia has been opened in response to growing customer demands and requirements in the region. At present, Incheon International Airport ranks as the forth largest cargo handler in the world, whilst Busan Port ranks as the third largest global container handler.
"Equipped with a world class infrastructure, our new Busan location offers a wide range of international transportation services, including air and sea freight forwarding, road transport, warehousing, consolidation and distribution, and customs brokerage and compliance consulting," said Mr. Lee.
"Our strategic intention is therefore for the new facility to serve as Birkart Globistics' northeastern Asian gateway for international air cargo and ocean freight services, as well as the domestic centre for our company's busy logistics and transportation network," he continues.
Mr. Lee comments that the decision for Birkart Globistics to establish an operation in Busan is timely given the Korean Government's ambitions to turn Incheon international Airport, Busan Port and Gwangyang Port into an integrated, international logistics hub that provides high-value-added freight forwarding and shipping services to neighboring countries.
At present, the Korean Government is expanding inland logistics hubs and terminals to further improve the region's transportation network, whilst adjusting the allocation of transportation facility financing to increase investments in railways and seaports in order to build a higher capacity transportation network.
