Raise Eye Care Awareness against UV through Games and Activities

HONG KONG, Dec. 28, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- To raise public awareness towards eye care, Transitions' Eye on Eye Care Carnival at Excelsior Plaza in Causeway Bay today attracts many families and the public. The carnival is livened up with an energetic flash mob dance performance and presence of the guest star - Sammy Leung.

Eye on Eye Care Carnival commences in the morning with its signature "We Love Light" parade car. Cruising around in town, the parade car distributes limited edition postcards and balloons in Mong Kok, Central, Wan Chai and Causeway Bay to promote the carnival. Subsequent to the parade, Eye on Eye Care Carnival takes place at Excelsior Plaza in Causeway Bay. Renowned artist Sammy makes an appearance onstage to play games with the audience and share tips on eye protection. Together with a flash mob dance and engaging game booths, the carnival attracts many locals, offering fabulous souvenirs, entertainment and knowledge about eye care.

Guest star Sammy remarks, "I love sports and outdoor activities. We pay attention to the weather, temperature and sunshine level for outdoor activities in choosing our clothing or putting on sunscreen accordingly. However, most of us are not aware of the damage of sunlight to our eyes." To protect eyes against sunlight, Sammy has a pair of new glasses with Transitions technology. With the unique photochromic technology, the lenses can constantly adapt to the surrounding light and adjust the color. It can also block UVA and UVB effectively. "UV radiation cannot be identified by bare eyes, but it can inflict damage to your eyes that accumulates. It might cause visual impairment or even eye diseases in long run. Hence, we should pay attention to eye care."

Earlier this year, Transitions ran a Facebook campaign, donating HKD 5 for each 'like' on its Facebook fan page. The campaign ended at midnight of December 21, 2013. HKD 99,600 was raised for three designated charity organizations benefiting children. At the ceremony, cheques are presented to three organizations - The Boys' & Girls' Clubs Association of Hong Kong, Bring Me A Book™ Hong Kong and The Parents' Association of Pre-school Handicapped Children.
