Institut Jantung Negara (IJN) was named the winner of the Corporate Excellence Award in the Healthcare Sector for Leadership in ESG Innovations at The International Business Review ASEAN Awards (IBRAA) 2025, held 19 July 2025 at Sabah International Convention Centre in Kota Kinabalu.
Dato’ Akmal Arief Fauzi, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of IJN, representing IJN Group CEO, Prof. Dato’ Seri Dr Mohamed Ezani, received the award from H.E. I Gusti Agung Wesaka Puja, Executive Director of the ASEAN Institute for Peace and Reconciliation.
“At IJN, we believe excellence is about creating a sustainable, ethical, and inclusive ecosystem that protects our planet, empowers our people, and serves our patients with heart,” said Dato’ Akmal Arief Fauzi, as he delivered his acceptance speech. “This award reflects the dedication and commitment of each and every individual in IJN, from the healthcare frontrunners and researchers, to our sustainability team as well as leadership.”
“It validates our belief that environment stewardship, social responsibility and good governance are not separate, but are at the very heart of healthcare,” he continued. He spoke about their ESG efforts thus far, from implementing changes in mechanical systems, or executing social initiatives to give back to the community.
IJN will not stop in their pursuit of excellence, to be a shining example and force of good, in order to create a better world for future generations. Since its establishment in 1992, IJN has always strived to innovate in their provision of healthcare, to become a leading cardiovascular and thoracic healthcare centre. Their ESG journey thus far has been documented in the book, The Gold Standard: The 1st EMGS Certified Hospital in Malaysia.
