IATF asks establishments providing essential services to extend operating hours

MANILA, Philippines – The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Disease (IATF) is encouraging owners and operators of establishments that provide essential services to extend their operation to 12 hours a day.

This is to serve more people amid the enhanced community quarantine due to coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak.

IATF Spokesperson Karlon Nograles asked the local government units, however, to formulate guidelines on the matter in consideration to the strict implementation of social distancing protocols.

Hinihikayat namin ang mga LGU na magpatupad ng mga nararapat na patakaran upang ipatupad ang social distancing tulad ng pagtatakda ng araw para sa bawat sektor, purok, o barangay sa pamimili,” Nograles said. [We are encouraging LGUs to impose the necessary guidelines to observe proper social distancing measures such as schedule of shopping per sector, area or barangay.]

At present, curfew hours are being imposed in various parts of Metro Manila.

Each household is provided with one home quarantine pass for a specific family member who is allowed to go out and buy essential items at a given time.
