Fans of Malaysia’s hard music scene are set for a night of pure adrenaline as the Gegaran Warisan concert has been officially announced for 18 July 2026, 8pm, at Warisan Hall Studio, Sijangkang, Telok Panglima Garang.
Organised by Mentari Merah Entertainment in collaboration with Warisan Hall, the event will bring together three influential names in the local rock and metal scene Punisher, FOR and Sniperz with a special guest appearance by legendary rock figure Amir SYJ @ Sofea.
With a limited capacity of only 300 attendees, the concert is expected to be in high demand among fans eager to experience a more intimate and up-close performance with some of the country’s hard music legends.
Managing Director of Mentari Merah Entertainment, Mohammad Noor Mustapha, said Gegaran Warisan is more than just an entertainment event, but an effort to revive the legacy of Malaysia’s hard music scene while introducing it to a new generation.
“We want to create a night that takes the audience back to the golden age of underground gigs. At the same time, we want younger fans to witness the names who paved the way for hard music in Malaysia.
“That is why we chose the name Gegaran Warisan. It is also a sign of appreciation to Mohd Khair, who has continuously supported us in many aspects. It is a symbol of a legacy that is still alive and breathing,” he said.
According to him, the decision to choose a smaller-capacity venue was also made to create a closer connection between the performers and the audience.
“When the space is smaller, the energy feels stronger. Fans get to see the raw power on stage. That kind of experience is becoming harder to find nowadays.”
The name Punisher is no stranger in the history of Malaysia’s underground music scene. Formed around 1987 in Kuala Lumpur, the band is widely regarded as one of the pioneers of Malaysian thrash metal. They were active during the late 1980s and performed at major events including the Thrash Concert at Stadium Negara and several large gigs during the rise of the local metal movement.
Punisher are known for their aggressive sound, fast riffs and strong influences from international giants such as Slayer, Exodus and Metallica. Their presence at Gegaran Warisan is expected to be one of the event’s main attractions for old school metal fans.
The band currently consists of Rosdan Baharom (vocals), Muhammad Ariffin (guitar/vocals), Zaid (guitar), Yunus (bass) and Mohd Faris (drums).
Among the songs expected to be performed are Black September, Wrath of the Machines and Gout, along with several others being kept under wraps.
Rosdan described the concert as a unique experience for Punisher as they are no longer sharing the stage only with underground bands, but with mainstream rock and heavy metal acts as well.
“This concert is different from what we usually do. Previously, we mostly performed with underground groups. This time, we are sharing the stage with rock and heavy metal bands.”
He added that differences in genre are never a problem, citing examples from the international music scene.
“There is no issue with different genres. Metallica once opened for Ozzy Osbourne, and Anthrax did the same. I myself once organised Nemesis as the opening act for Bumiputera Rockers at Galactica.”
Also drawing attention is FOR, a band well known among local rock fans for their street spirit and distinctive identity. FOR have frequently appeared at community gigs and underground events, making them a familiar name within the local scene.
FOR manager Mohd Ariffin described the invitation as a great honour and promised an all-out performance.
“We are truly honoured by this opportunity and promise to give our best performance — 200 percent,” he said.
FOR currently features Din FOR (guitar/leader), Mie Senna (bass), JK (drums) and Wanz Leybor (vocals). The group will maintain their Rock n Roll and Hard Rock identity while using the concert as a platform to promote their latest album, GEBANG MELANGIT, released at the end of 2025.
More interestingly, FOR will also back the special appearance of Amir SYJ/Sofea, adding extra exclusivity to the event. Each band is scheduled to perform around 7 to 8 songs, while Amir will deliver 2 special songs for fans.
Meanwhile, Sniperz from Ipoh bring a modern rock touch with hard-hitting and energetic elements. Their name has appeared on several independent music platforms and they are known among regional gig followers.
Formed in 2009, Sniperz currently consists of Azmie (vocals), Poi (guitar), Din (bass) and a session drummer.
“What makes this concert special is that it features three bands with their own followers and musical strengths. Sniperz remain true to our Rock n Roll genre,” they said.
For the night, Sniperz are expected to perform six to seven songs. According to the band, rehearsals are going smoothly and fans can expect a high-energy set complete with their signature military camouflage image.
Throughout their journey, Sniperz have released several works including debut album E7J (Ekspressi 7 Jiwa) in 2013, single Ameera in 2015 and third album M.I.S.I ‘17 in 2017.
“For us, this is a big stage. To stand alongside names we grew up listening to is an honour. We are not here just to complete the line-up, but to show that Sniperz have bullets of our own,” said a representative of the band.
The combination of Punisher, FOR and Sniperz makes the event feel like a clash of three generations of Malaysian rock musicians.
Even more special, fans will also witness the guest appearance of Amir SYJ @ Sofea, the vocalist who created a phenomenon with SYJ during the Battle of the Bands era in the mid-1980s.
Amir is remembered for his extraordinary stage presence, charismatic style and songs such as Orang Timur.
Tickets are priced at RM90 only. Better still, every ticket purchase qualifies attendees for a lucky draw with a grand prize of RM1,000, second prize RM700, third prize RM500, along with several consolation prizes.
