HONG KONG, Jan. 9, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Hong Kong Internet Registration Corporation Limited ("HKIRC") announced today that the 'Best .hk Website Awards 2019' ("the Awards") will be open for entries and nominations from now until 1 March, 2019.
Marking the 9th year of this prestige event, the Awards aim to recognise the remarkable achievements of all outstanding .hk websites. All entrants will take part in various stages of the competition, and the winners will showcase their website success and share the best practice of website development among the community. Throughout the years, the Awards programme has witnessed significant improvements on website quality, security and user experiences of various award winners, which not only raise the standards but also benefit the society in general.
This year, the Awards re-designed an eye-catching award logo. HKIRC also hopes to raise the awareness of web accessibility and encourage web accessible adoption. Best .hk Website Awards 2019 will automatically enrol the applicants of "Friendly Website of Web Accessibility Recognition Scheme". In addition, Winners of Best .hk Website Awards will be granted the title of "Friendly Website of Web Accessibility Recognition Scheme" in its 2020 Award Ceremony. Furthermore, all entrants are also welcome to attend the Web Accessibility Recognition Scheme technical workshops organised in 2019.
All participating websites will compete for Gold, Silver and Bronze awards in 3 categories, namely "Commercial" (Corporate / SME), "Non-commercial" (Corporate / SME), and "Government Department" (Government Department / LEGCO Members). The shortlisted websites will be assessed in accordance with four judging criteria including overall website design and functionality, viewer engagement, use of social media, as well as accessibility.
Top winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony in June 2019 based on public voting and judging panel assessment. Apart from trophy and cash prizes up to HK$10,000, winners will also get the opportunity to have their achievements publicly recognised and share the best practices through various occasions and speaking engagements.
