HONG KONG, April 27, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- What do Hong Kong investors want when it comes to trading stocks? The top three priorities are ease of use, mobile and low cost. This is based on the biggest research study ever done on online brokerage Hong Kong and published last year. "We are simply giving the people what they want," said Mathias Helleu, Chairman of 8 Securities.

The company announced today that customers can trade over 15,000 US, HK and China H shares and index funds for $0 commission. "Our technology has reduced our cost to execute a trade to almost $0 so we are simply passing that savings on to our customers," said Mikaal Abdulla, CEO of 8 Securities. "Unlike traditional financial services, we run highly efficient technology and don't need to support the high cost of branches and manual processes," he went on to say. "People want a great mobile experience. Mobile now accounts for the majority of our transactions." The company intends to earn revenue in the future by offering margin lending to its experienced traders. The free stock trading service has been launched to its existing customers. Over 10,000 additional people have so far joined a waiting list for early access.

The plan for the next version of the trading app will include highly personalized and behavior based alerts. The intelligent technology detects the customer's favored sectors, stocks and trading patterns and gives actionable insight. If a customer calls a quote for Apple, for example, they can get a real-time view of the overall buy or sell momentum from the 8 Securities community on that particular stock. The company says it is one of a thousand possibilities of using data to give our customers personalized insights and ideas.

"This is one of many big product launches we have planned for 2016. The next generation of our new mobile advisory service is in the pipeline," said Helleu. Customers will be supported and coached by a digital assistant called Chloe. "This will be revolutionary. Our technology has a goal of making investing simple and accessible. We believe there is a large population that feel underserved by their bank or are paying high fees to an advisor and want a smart and affordable digital alternative," said Helleu.
