Canon Hongkong Announces New President and CEO

HONG KONG, April 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Canon Hongkong Company Limited (CHK) is pleased to announce today the appointment of Mr. Shunichi Morinaga as the company's new President and CEO, with immediate effect.

With his wealth of knowledge in the field of imaging products gained from a lifelong career at Canon, Mr. Morinaga will spearhead the company's overall operations in Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, Taiwan, the Philippines and Mongolia. He is particularly thrilled for his "return" to Hong Kong -- his first overseas stop during his initial years with Canon.

Mr. Morinaga commenced his career at Canon Inc. as a sales representative for business machines, right after his graduation from the Department of Law at Gakushuin University in Tokyo in 1984, and was relocated to Canon Hongkong Trading Company Limited as Overseas Trainee in the next year. Since then, he developed his expertise on promoting Canon's consumer imaging information products at Canon Inc., the company's headquarter in Japan; and grew extensive experience worldwide by working at Canon offices in Canada, Europe and China. His remarkable accomplishment includes taking part in the hugely successful production planning and marketing of IXUS, Canon's first digital compact camera series.

Mr. Morinaga joined Canon's senior management team in 2009 as Director of Canon Europa N.V., leading its Product Sales & Marketing of Consumer Imaging Information Group. He was then promoted as Senior Director of Image Communication Products Group of Canon (China) Company Limited in 2013 and became the Vice President two years later.

Apart from his rich knowledge in photography and imaging technology, Mr. Morinaga is passionate about music, sports and art appreciation. He likes playing the guitar, skiing, running and playing golf.
