SHEFFIELD, England, Oct. 18, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- One of the leading cruise line operators in Asia-Pacific is adopting integrated surveillance solutions designed around Synectics' Synergy 3 command and control platform for its two, next generation mega cruise ships.

The 21-deck floating casino resorts will weigh more than 200,000 gross registered tonnes, feature in excess of 1,600 cabins to accommodate around 4,500 passengers and 2,000 crew, and boast state-of-the-art, global class leisure and entertainment facilities.

Designed with integration partner Empire Automation, the 2000-channel Synectics surveillance system developed for both ships will enable operators to monitor, control and respond to alarms from third party cameras and emergency systems across the entire ship for comprehensive situational awareness.

Each solution will be FAT tested at Synectics' dedicated UK Operations Centre before being shipped, operation-ready, to the European ship-build location.

Mark White, General Manager at Empire Automation, said: "The flexible, open architecture of Synergy 3, allows video, alarms, and other third party sub-system transactional data to be monitored, managed, and acted upon from a single, unified interface, making it an ideal solution for large-scale cruise ships.

"System redundancy and resiliency are also crucial for mobile deployments like these, which is why we've also adopted Synergy 3's backfilling capabilities. This ensures that in the event of network failure, data is recorded locally at each camera and then seamlessly copied from camera storage cards onto the primary storage server without any disruption to ongoing monitoring or recording.

"Having worked with Synectics for many years on major Asia Pacific surveillance projects - including both sea and land-based gaming - specifying Synergy 3 for these important new cruise liners was an easy decision."

Synectics has also announced it will provide a surveillance upgrade for an existing liner in the operator's Asian fleet.

John Katnic, Vice President of Global Gaming at Synectics, said: "The owners and directors of these mega-ships are loyal, long-standing customers - when the second vessel is built, it will be the tenth in the fleet to utilize Synectics. It is both reassuring and rewarding for us to develop reliable, cost effective solutions that keep evolving to meet our customers' growing needs now and in the future.

"In such a highly competitive, price conscious market place, listening to our customers and adapting our technology to meet new regulations and client business needs are key to our ongoing success. These new Synergy 3 contracts reaffirm that end-users and integrators value this proven 'customer-driven' approach."

Synectics also recently announced it is working with Empire to deliver a state-of-the-art security and surveillance solution for a new mega-casino resort in Manila.

Across the globe, Synectics' end-to-end, integrated security and surveillance technology monitors and manages more than 100,000 channels in over 100 of the largest, busiest and most tightly regulated casinos and cruise ships in Asia, North America and Europe.
