The Shanghai Government has been actively involved with social forces developing the elderly industry - private and foreign capital has increased into the elderly care market in China. Over the past year, local state-owned business has also aimed to get into the elderly care market and has invested in the community home care programs. There are two typical cases as below.

Shanghai Shenyang Investment Management Co., Ltd (Shenyang) has a registered capital of RMB 300 million. This was co-founded by Shanghai Real Estate Group, Shanghai Vanke and Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Shenyang is aiming at developing a full set of operating services for the elderly people and dedicated to offer high quality medical treatment combined with nursing care to the public. Their service is combined with four parts: apartments, nursing homes, small nursing homes embedded in the community and rehabilitation care centers.

Established in 1986, Baosteel Development Limited (Baosteel) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Baowu Steel Group Corporation with a registered capital of RMB 2.75 billion, an asset scale of RMB 6.84 billion. Baosteel Development is actively building the professional business platform focusing on "nursing institutions for the elderly, health examinations, sojourn, sale & rental of tools for the elderly".

Both of Shenyang and Baosteel displayed their companies images at CHINA AID 2017. CHINA AID is one of the largest and most established exhibitions of senior care in Asia, incorporating multiple platforms for product demonstration, service showcasing, knowledge exchange and networking prospects.
