Located on the 64th, 65th and 66th floor of the fashionable hotel, HU Bar & Lounge is named for and built to reflect the past, present and future glories of its home city. Split into three parts, the concept includes an exclusive penthouse-inspired event space, a classically styled bar and a modern nightclub. The inspiration for each comes from the character of Madame Hu, a longtime resident whose own life and family personify the old and new of the city.

HU looks back at the past while embracing the progress and fast-paced evolution Shanghai is known for all while giving its guests towering, iconic and the most amazing views of the city's skyline from all around.

"We are very excited to announce the official grand opening of HU Bar & Lounge, Shanghai's newest nightlife destination," says Benjamin Zahn, General Manager of Le Royal Méridien Shanghai. "Our vision with HU is to deliver both classic and contemporary luxury in one place, where people can collaborate, discover and explore an array of inspired local elements," says Dirk Cornelis, Director of Bar Operations.

Hu opens with an exclusive party headlined by Javi Kolero, an internationally famous DJ playing vocal and funky house at Le Baron, Unico and etc.

HU's Penthouse + Atelier | 64th Floor

The most exclusive section of the venue is the 64th floor, HU's Atelier and HU's Penthouse. Inspired by the HU's love of hosting their artistic and creative friends in their penthouse, the Atelier is a unique residential-style venue featuring stunning views of the Shanghai skyline.

Designed to reflect the chic, modern apartment where the Hu's lived for many years, the Penthouse features a reception area, a living room, a dining room, a creative board room called "the Atelier", bar and kitchen. Each room is decorated with exquisitely selected cultural and art pieces inspired by Mr. Hu's trip to France in the old days.

Today the Penthouse is perfectly suited for meetings, big unveilings, fashion shows and upscale social gatherings for groups up to 100. The penthouse-style spaces are a complete rethinking of the ideal working environment for modern creative minds, who come from fields as diverse as film, design, fashion, publishing, the arts and tech. The Atelier board room is designed to tap the fuzziness between work and life, leveraging workplace happiness to boost creative productivity, for up to 8 guests.

Classic Comfort | Hu on 65th

The 65th floor hearkens back to the storied past of the HU family and the city itself, echoing the classic comforts of the 20th century with a focus on fine wines, whiskies and Shanghainese street food in the old days. This portion of the venue is all about reveling in the nostalgia of Shanghai in the 1930's and the tremendous private luxury afforded to the rich and wealthy of that time.

Local influences will be seen throughout, with traditional touches seen everywhere from the classic cocktail bar to the jazz artists that grace the stage. The music program brings international names incorporating local twists and will serve as a platform for local live artists to showcase their work.

Also taking center stage is a live open street food kitchen built to serve lavish feasts inspired by iconic food culture of Shanghai's old days.

Modern Edginess | Hu on 66th

The 66th floor, meanwhile, is built to represent the HU's "wild grand-daughter" and is the place to experience the best nightlife 21st-century Shanghai has to offer. Menus are stacked with Champagne selections and cutting edge cocktails, while live DJ's, a central dance floor and modern booth seating build an always lively atmosphere.

This top floor is destined to become a home for the city's young trendsetters, a cosmopolitan group that appreciates the finest things from all around the world. Accordingly, the space is infused with a modern edginess, incorporating fun elements like lollipop bar snacks, mobile technologies and tastefully designed LED lighting.

Another defining feature of this floor is to be the guest DJ's from internationally renowned nightlife brands.
