To be held from 5th to 8th October, the booths for IGEM 2016 are fast filling up, with a few prime spots still available on a first-come-first-serve basis. As ASEAN's largest green technology business and innovation platform, IGEM 2016 targets business leads of US$370.9 million, 30,000 trade visitors and 350 exhibitors from over 30 countries.

Organised by the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA) and co-organised by Malaysian Green Technology Corporation (GreenTech Malaysia), IGEM has since 2010, generated US$2.18 billion in business leads, with 2015 recording the highest at US$490 million. Overall, IGEM has attracted over 300,000 visitors from 50 countries including delegates, dignitaries and corporations from China, Germany, Japan, Norway, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the United States of America.

Urging corporations to seize the opportunity to grow their green business in the region, Ir. Ahmad Hadri Haris, Group Chief Executive Officer of GreenTech Malaysia said, "We are very pleased to have secured global brands, leading corporations and trade organisations who recognise IGEM as a reputable event, which brings together innovative exhibitors, insightful conferences and breakthrough business matching programme."

"With the recently announced green incentives by the Malaysian government in the form of Investment Tax Allowance and Income Tax Exemption, companies can reduce their net investment cost of green assets by half. This, coupled with other attractive incentives offered within ASEAN, gives companies another reason to be at IGEM and explore how to capitalise on these green incentives to expand their business in the region," he added.

Recognising increasing growth potential in solar energy, IGEM will, for the first time, feature a dedicated Solar Energy Zone, led by the Malaysian Photovoltaic Industry Association (MPIA) and the Asian Photovoltaic Industry Association (APVIA) under the green energy pillar. There will also be four other pillars including Green Transport, Green Building, Waste Technology and Management as well as Clean Water Technology and Management, which offer numerous green technology solutions for companies to incorporate.

President of MPIA, Ahmad Shadzli Abdul Wahab said, "We are pleased to be collaborating with KeTTHA and GreenTech Malaysia to be part of the region's largest green technology exhibition. There is immense potential for further growth of the solar sector particularly within the ASEAN region. As such, for the very first time, we are hosting the Solar Energy Zone in conjunction with IGEM."

"We are working together with APVIA to maximise this opportunity, bringing in exhibitors and trade visitors from countries such as China, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines and Indonesia. We are very enthusiastic about this upcoming event and are leaving no stone unturned to make the Solar Energy Zone a great success. We urge all industry leaders and entrepreneurs to sign up and be part of IGEM 2016," he added.

In addition to the exhibition, IGEM will also feature the Solar PV Conference from 5th to 6th October, which aims to encourage discourse on the challenges and opportunities faced by the solar industry, and explore ways to further unlock growth opportunities within the sector. Themed Bridging Key Performers, the Conference will bring together 30 international speakers, allowing for exchange of knowledge on the latest global developments, including challenges, opportunities and success stories within the industry.
