STEAM is a global initiative aimed at encouraging creativity, innovation and inspiring lifelong interest in STEAM disciplines among today's youth. This vision is a response to China's strategy announced in 2015, when national leaders called for educators to foster creativity in students to support an innovation-driven national strategy.

Being the first of its kind in China, the STEAM Center has received strong support from the Nantong Tongzhou Bay District. The STEAM Center is not-for-profit, and its operations are entirely funded by corporate and private donations.

Serving as the hub of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics Education, the STEAM Center provides schools free access to and hands-on interaction with the latest technologies, enabling them to incorporate new information, technology and industry best practices into teaching via the Center's teacher training programs. The STEAM Center is at the forefront of China's creative education and pioneering Education and Business partnerships for the public benefit, and drawing national and international attention to the region.

The STEAM Center is scheduled to launch in Q1 2017, will be open to students, teachers and schools free of charge during the week and to the public after hours and weekends, allowing students and the public to be exposed to the latest in technology and science. The Center introduces experiential learning to students, where they will have the opportunity to interact with new technologies, immerse themselves in art, performance and theater, participate in student-led technology incubators, attend special programs and hands-on coding lessons, and learn to conceptualize and transform an idea into practice with experts from top technology firms.

The Center is supported financially and with technology by corporate partners, which comprise of both Blue Chip and emerging innovation-oriented companies of all fields from China and abroad. The participation of the companies will serve the area by bringing hands-on learning to China's youth, establishing close ties with the local community and driving innovation and business in the region.

"We are excited to be among the first in the province and the nation to advance creative education through business partnerships," says Zhang Honghui, Vice Director of the Tongzhou Bay Demonstration District. "Tongzhou Bay is an exciting area for innovative industries, and we are pleased to be taking the lead on China's Education reform and innovation by introducing STEAM to Jiangsu, and to benefit students, businesses and the public in our region."

"We are proud to have this opportunity to partner with Tongzhou Bay Demonstration District to give back to the community," Luke Peereboom, CEO of Quest Education, commented. "The vision of supporting China's youth and future development through STEAM Education in partnership with private companies is groundbreaking. We look forward to establishing a long-lasting relationship with the districts, business partners and the community, and developing other centers across the country for the benefit of China's future development."
