Messer Opens Its Largest CO2 Plant Worldwide in Nanjing, China

SHANGHAI, March 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The industrial gas specialist Messer today held a grand opening ceremony at its new CO2 recovery plant in Nanjing, China. The new plant, which has a 150,000 ton-per-year capacity, has become Messer's largest CO2 recovery plant worldwide.

"With the purpose to capture the exhaust CO2 and bring it to good use for various industries, we hope our new plant will become an outstanding example of how economic interests and conservation of the environment can be harmonized," said Stefan Messer, owner and CEO of Messer Group. Nanjing Messer represents the third CO2 recovery plant of Messer in China after it successfully put two plants on stream respectively in 2014 in Yunnan and in 2015 in Sichuan. With a total capacity of 300,000 ton-per-year, Messer has ranked among the largest CO2 suppliers in China.

The new plant is designed with the most sophisticated technology for both quality and energy efficiency. The CO2 product is available in the state of gas, liquid or dry ice for supply to a variety of expanding markets in east China area, including food, beverage, chemicals, agriculture and manufacturing.

Along with the start-up of the new plant, Messer also put a new gas application technology center into use at its Nanjing plant. "Supported by the global knowledge base, our technical staff will develop tailored solutions for our customers in China," said Stefan Messer.
