HONG KONG, April 12, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Prenetics, the leading genetic testing company in Southeast Asia, announced the launch of ONEdna, an exclusive DNA screening test service in partnership with HSBC Insurance Hong Kong. The partnership sets Prenetics on track to achieving its goal of empowering millions of individuals in Asia with powerful genetic information.

ONEdna provides a comprehensive view and analysis of an individual's genes along with actionable recommendations. The results may give insights into health status and risk for disease, optimal dietary and nutrients response, understanding which medications may work better and an optional cancer screen to identify risk of common cancers:

1.Health risk – Discover one's genetic predisposition for highly preventable health conditions such as heart disease, stroke, high cholesterol, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, and obesity.

2.Dietary & nutrients – Optimize one's diet by understanding how his/her genes may affect their response to foods and nutrients such as carbohydrates, fats, vitamin C and more.

3.Drug response – Understand how genes may affect an individual's response to over 100 FDA approved medications.

4.Inherited cancer screen [optional screening for those with family history of cancer] – Identify genetic mutations associated with eight common cancers: breast, ovarian, colorectal, melanoma, pancreatic, prostate, stomach, and uterine.

ONEdna is embedded in six designated HSBC protection plans: Jade Universal Life Plan, Goal Access Universal Life Plan, Critical Illness Protection Plan, WholeLife Protection Plan, Lifestyle Wealth Protection Plus and Privileged Term Protection Plan.

Edward Moncreiffe, Interim CEO and Head of Distribution, HSBC Insurance Hong Kong, says, "HSBC's recent Power of Protection survey1 revealed that 69% of people in Hong Kong rank health as their top priority. The people of Hong Kong are becoming more health conscious, and are increasingly proactive in taking preventive measures to keep critical illness from occurring."

"The most important asset people have is their health – as such we believe that providing ONEdna to our customers will give them the information they need to help them better manage their health risks, and adopt appropriate preventive measures to protect their health and live a long, healthy life," Edward continued.
